  • Canal aspect: This is on the offside of the Grand Union Canal, and it has a great paved canalside area at the bottom of the garden. Some neighbouring properties have moorings, so I think it would be well worth applying for one here. Given the width of the garden, I thought it would only be a short mooring, but it seems the canal bank extends beyond the end of the summerhouse. Streetview confirms this (see screenshot below). However, you should check the tenure of that extra bit of garden and if it doesn't belong to the property, don't forget to get a statement from the seller to support a later adverse possession claim. Hopefully the tree won't interfere with pulling a boat up to the bank - something else to investigate. I like the tree-lined towpath opposite, the end-of-cul-de-sac position, and Solihull is quite a pleasant town, too.
