A little Canalside Homes update

Hello! How are you? This is just a quick note to let you know how things are here at Canalside Homes HQ.
Firstly, it's been rather quiet outside on the canal, and we've missed all the activity. We're looking forward to seeing some action when the CRT re-opens Glascote Locks tomorrow - there are already quite a few boats forming an orderly queue!
As for the website, I have nearly finished adding all the listings as individual posts - there are just two digests left to deconstruct: nineteen properties at £401 to £500k, and twenty at £501 to £600k. I think it's already making the website much clearer - and I can't wait to finish this laborious task!
Another improvement I am making is that I am gradually changing the order of the posts so the most recent listing AND the most recent price change is nearest to the top of the front page and each price group page. A hope this will help to alert subscribers to any price drops that might be of interest, because I don't email these out. This will take a few weeks (or maybe months) to fully implement as it isn't a priority, but I just wanted you to be aware that it's happening.
Now, a note on the market. I've noticed that I'm suddenly seeing a lot fewer new listings this week. The available property stock is definitely dropping now that we're entering the winter months. That being said, there has been a slight increase in holiday rental properties hitting the market, as owners have wanted to make the most of their last season before selling, so it's not completely dead.
The flip side of there being a lot more sales than listings, is that if you are thinking of selling, and you are willing to price sensibly, now can be a good time to sell. Well-priced houses new to the market seem to be getting snapped up quite quickly - just make sure you have options on properties to buy, or that you're willing to rent until the market picks up.
The other factor slowing the market is the prospect of the forthcoming mini-budget affecting house prices and stamp duty. We're watching that subject with interest. If the budget doesn't perk the market up (I doubt it will), the next boost I'm expecting will be Boxing Day.
I will continue to look for properties pretty much every day throughout the winter, but because of the above, you can expect the number of properties I find to slow down a bit - rest assured it's not that I'm looking any less intently!
A final off-topic thought - my YouTube channel about cemeteries is going well, so if you like graveyards or genealogy, do please have a look! I am now about four months in, and although it is still a very small channel (98 subscribers at the time of writing this), it's definitely progressing "as well as can be expected", and I am getting a good response to my videos locally, with people actually stopping me in the street to talk about them!
Take care, Sheridan
